On Tuesday night’s season finale of “Glee,” we are going to see a character that we have been waiting to finally spend some time with — Gloria Estefan’s Maribel. She was supposed to be taking part in some scenes earlier in the season, but it was delayed for various reasons until now.
As for what we will see from Estefan in the finale, expect her to caution Naya Rivera’s Santana as to having a long-distance relationship — while she is supportive of her being a lesbian, she does not want Brittany to be a source of stress.
The door is certainly still open for Estefan to return to the show, and the “Turn the Beat Around” singer tells The Hollywood Reporter that she wants to come back in order for Maribel to confront Santana’s grandmother about banning her from her sight earlier this season:
“That would still be relevant … I’d like to ask her what her reasons were for saying what she did. Since I’m the woman’s daughter, I know her well so we’ve got to talk about it and I’d love for it to be in Spanish with subtitles, or at least a big chunk of it. I think we need to see it.”
Rivera is confirmed for the show’s fourth season already, but it is unclear whether or not she will even be enough of a focus for Estefan to turn back up. Santana is supposedly heading to Kentucky for college, but we are only aware at the moment of the show using the New York and Ohio settings.
