It’s hard to really express the joy that must be in the hearts of “Rules of Engagement” fans everywhere at the moment. Despite being jostled around on the schedule like a rag doll for years (and airing on the most competitive network on TV), CBS has renewed the comedy yet again for a seventh season.
Reports suggest that this order is for just 13 episodes, and it does bring the total up to an impressive 100 — especially when you consider just how many close calls there have been here.
This move for CBS is largely an insurance policy — they have ordered two new comedies in “Partners” and “Friend Me,” but they need an option in case the two fail to pull in the sort of ratings that they want. For “Rules” fans, this is really just the icing on the cake no matter how you look at it. The show will easily get into syndication now, and no matter where CBS plugs it in you know that the fans will still be waiting eagerly to check it out.
