‘Once Upon a Time’ spoilers: The role of magic in season 2

It will be a different world for her.

If you look back at the season finale for “Once Upon a Time” earlier this month, then you are already well aware of just how much magic looks to be a key player in the action for season 2.

So with this in mind, what can we expect? If you thought that the rivalry between Mr. Gold and Regina (or the Evil Queen and Rumpelstiltskin, if you prefer) was bad during the first 22 episodes, just wait and see what they do now that they each have more in the way of power. This rivalry will very much be a focus of the show’s second season, as will another interesting balance for the Queen — trying to use magic to her advantage while keeping Henry (who is really the one person that she truly cares for) in her life.

Speaking to Wetpaint, actress Lana Parrilla goes on to share more details:

“I don’t know. I’m sure it’s going to be juicy, especially with Rumpelstiltskin [Robert Carlyle] being one of the most popular [characters]. I’m curious to see what happens between those two —Rumpelstiltskin and the Evil Queen or Mr. Gold and Regina. I’m very curious to see what happens with that. Most importantly, I’m hoping to see what happens between Henry and Regina; I really hope that she hasn’t lost him.”

We don’t anticipate it being easy for Regina to try and keep Henry on her side at all, and at this point it may take her changing her ways — or at least appearing to do so — in order for her adopted son to trust her as much as he does his biological mom.

Who do you think is more suited to being a potential Big Bad in season 2 — Regina, Mr. Gold, or someone else entirely? Check back all summer, as we’ll have more “Once” scoop as we continue to speculate and pump up excitement.
