‘The Bachelorette’ preview: Emily Maynard on strange suitors

It forced Emily out of her comfort zone.

When “The Bachelorette” premiered last week, Emily Maynard had to get accustomed to something rather quickly — awkward first impressions with men all vying for her attention. Emily had to deal with a guy rocking out a jukebox, someone dressed as a grandma, and a man who carried with him an ostrich egg that he was using to represent his commitment to Ricki.

In the real world, would Emily have given any of these guys a chance? Don’t count on it. In an interview on “Good Morning America” Monday morning, Emily admitted that these would have been the sort of people she sent home on just about any other occasion:

“Those guys that I normally would have usually said, ‘No way,’ I was forced to really get to know them. I was surprised by them.”

We do know that one of these guys (in Kalon, who first arrived via helicopter) is going to be making his presence felt for much of the rest of the season — or at least as long as he is there. He’s confident, unafraid to take up a good bit of Emily’s time, and is certainly not afraid to speak his mind.

Would you give any of these guys a chance in a real-world dating environment?
