When it comes to “The Voice” UK at the moment, there are really a pair of headlines that are getting a great deal of attention — the fact that viewership is down over 50% from its onetime peak, and that Jessie J may have actually spoiled the results of the public vote hours before the show aired Sunday.
What happened? In a post on Twitter, Jessie showed off an image of herself alongside Vince Kidd (who was Britain’s pick to advance to the next round) and Becky Hill (who she decided to save during the show). She soon after deleted the tweet, especially as she received all sorts of hateful messages from people claiming that she ruined the entire results show for them.
But did Jessie really spoil anything? While the British tabloids have made this story into a gigantic headline, there are others still who are speculating that Jessie may have just been standing next to a pair of her singers for the fun of it, and then the public drew their own conclusions based on that. While we’re certain that the coaches play out all possible scenarios in their head before the show when it comes to who to eliminate, this does not mean that they have direct knowledge of what is going to happen — as a matter of fact, we hear that this is not the case.
Ultimately, the real moral of this story is a simple one — think before you tweet, mostly because someone out there may be ready to make anything you post into a big deal, even if it is not intended to be so.
Do you think that Jessie was really trying to “spoil” anything in regards to the show? Check back later this week, as we will be ranking the remaining eight contestants.
