For this Monday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, we are taking a look at something related to the show’s season 11 finale on Tuesday — in addition to that, though, we also have a video tribute to the late Donna Summer courtesy of someone who covers great artists better than just about anybody.
Joshua Ledet may perform with Fantasia – First, we start out with the possible finale spoiler for the ages — Joshua (who we picked as having the best performance of the season) may end up performing with his personal hero Fantasia Barrino.
The rumors began with the following message from Joshua on Twitter:
“You guys are so In for a treat at this finale I’m performing with the most amazing singer in history!”
Meanwhile, further evidence can be found (thanks to Mjsbigblog for the tip here) courtesy of one of the members of the season 3 winner’s team, who posted the following message:
“Hey family I am back I’m LA with @TasiasWord. We are at rehearsal for the American Idol finale where she & Joshua will Roc… Kisskiss”.
If this is true, we may be bracing for one of the greatest trips to church ever.
Jessica Sanchez to Manila – If you know Jessica Sanchez well at this point, then you already know that she is the latest in a long line of “Idol” contestants (see David Archuleta or Thia Megia) who has ties to the Philippines. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that a promoter in the country is trying to book her for a concert — though this time alongside Jennifer Lopez.
According to reports, Jun Lorenz Mamangon (who is responsible for bringing Justin Bieber to the Asian island country) has booked J.Lo to appear for a concert this fall, and is hoping that Jessica will find a way to join the show judge:
“I’m proud to announce that I’m bringing over Jennifer Lopez to Manila. We’ve been discussing this concert for over a year and a half. I had a good discussion with her manager last Tuesday … I’m pushing for Jessica Sanchez to be Jennifer’s front act and probably have her perform at least two songs for the Filipino concert goers.”
Last year, the Philippines got their “Idol” fix when the entire top 11 stopped in Manila, but there are no plans for a tour stop this year.
Kris Allen tributes Donna Summer – We’ll close here with a video of the season 8 champ singing a Donna Summer classic following her passing earlier this month.
The song is “She Works Hard for the Money,” and Kris of course puts his signature twist on it.
As always, stay tuned for more “Idol” news!
