‘Saturday Night Live’ finale ratings: Mick Jagger’s show below season average

Wiig's last show was this weekend.

Despite this weekend being the season finale for “Saturday Night Live,” young people were apparently not as excited to see Mick Jagger (or the surprise send-off for Kristen Wiig) as they were to see Eli Manning a couple of weeks ago or even Lindsay Lohan earlier this season.

Overall, the show (read our full review here) brought in a 2.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is lower than the average for this season. While this is a surprise considering that finale ratings generally produce some higher numbers, you also have to remember that it is late May, and many people may be choosing to spend their time outdoors rather than watching TV.

As for the future of some other cast members in addition to Wiig, neither Andy Samberg nor Jason Sudeikis have announced yet whether or not they will be back for another season with the variety show. Both actors have seen their career skyrocket since debuting as cast members, but have not had the box-office success that Wiig had with “Bridesmaids” last summer.

Are you surprised about the ratings, and what do you think Samberg and Sudeikis are going to return to the show next year?
