We have some great music coming up immediately in our Friday evening edition of “American Idol” notes — and it’s all courtesy of one Kris Allen.
“Shut That Door” – If you order the fan edition of Kris’ new album “Thank You Camellia” (in stores Tuesday) via his website, one of the songs you get in the collection of this stellar little acoustic gem.
The song ultimately feels as though it is the sort of song done outside of a voodoo house on the streets of New Orleans, and it really doesn’t need much in the way of instrumentation to get your head bobbing along. Considering that this song is fantastic and isn’t even on the standard edition of the album, it certainly gives you hope about the songs that are there.

Pia reacts to Joshua’s elimination – We haven’t had many opportunities recently to write about Pia Toscano, so it’s nice to do so today in the context of Joshua Ledet’s elimination on Thursday night — especially when so many former singers often don’t have any opinion about who they are rooting for.
In a post on Twitter, here is what the season 10 alum (who we are hoping will have some new music out soon) had to say about Joshua’s performance:
“I really would’ve loved to see my Joshua in the finale.. But boy did he make a mark on this show & on so many lives. Love ya baby.Proud of u”
If it’s any consolation out there to Joshua fans (and it’s probably not), we would have loved to see him there, too.
Scotty will have two finale appearances – We had reported earlier in the day that Scotty McCreery would be appearing during the “Idol” finale next week, and now Fox is saying that he is actually going to have a pair of performances on the show. He will be singing the “goodbye song” of the year in “Please Remember Me” Tuesday night, and then he will be back to help crown the winner Wednesday.
In a statement, here is what Scotty (who is having a rather nice day thanks to some love from the Teen Choice Awards) had to say about being back:
“I am so excited about going back to American Idol and seeing everyone again. I hope to spend some time with the finalists, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez, and share some of my experiences with them. I can’t believe that it’s been a year since I was in their shoes.”
Scotty is going to be up for some hardware at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, so that will be the next chance to see if he strikes gold.
As always, check back for more of the latest “Idol” news!
