In our Friday look at season 4 of “The Vampire Diaries,” we have some dish coming to you straight from The CW upfront presentation. We’ll star with a character that is believed to be dead — and from there, we will talk a little bit about a member of the undead.
Is Alaric returning? – We’ve heard that executive Julie Plec still wants to find a way to use Matt Davis on the show if she can, even though he has signed on for a new series from the network in “Cult” (which premieres at midseason).
Thankfully, Matt Davis told Wetpaint at the presentation that the talk is true when it comes to him returning, and he was also really rather thrilled with the way in which his character exited via a spell that slowly turned him into a monster:
“I thought it was great. I thought it was a really wonderful payoff, emotionally for the audience. I think for me creatively, as an actor, it was so much fun to play. It was a whirlwind because I booked the pilot [for Cult] while we were shooting the finale, so I was kind of facilitating both roles at the same time. But I’ve been happy with it.”
Stefan – While Stefan did end up ultimately winning Elena’s heart at the end of season 3, Paul Wesley is hoping that we still do get to see a trace of the killer we have come to know for so long on the show.
Speaking to E! News, Paul Wesley had this to say about the idea of keeping some darkness within his character movin
“I’m hoping that Stefan still maintains a glimmer of ripper. I don’t want him to become the stereotypical hero again, like season one. I don’t want him to become a goody two-shoes. I really want him to maintain a dark side; I want him to be a threat.”
