Do we have another name to add to the likely “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” roster? We know that Mario Lopez has been asked to join the ABC show for another go at the Mirrorball Trophy, and now the new reports coming out suggest that fellow former runner-up Mel B is looking to be on the show again.
The rumor mill first started to run earlier this week with a post the former Spice Girl posted on her Twitter account to her partner in Maksim Chmerkovskiy:
@MaksimC are we gonna do this or what brotha???”
Meanwhile, a source has also said the following on the subject to Radar Online:
“Mel absolutely wants to come back and take another crack at winning the coveted [Mirrorball] trophy … Remember, Maks has never won the trophy before, it’s a constant thorn in his side, and he knows his best chance of winning is going to be with Mel. It’s practically a done deal that the duo will be dancing together this fall and they are already talking about how they are going to win this time.”
Ultimately, this casting does make sense from just about every vantage point. Mel is still a popular name thanks to her musical history, she was popular with fans, and you also want somebody back who has a great shot at winning. Mel has stayed involved with dancing ever since leaving the show, and she and Maks have a great relationship.
This move could also entice the show’s most-controversial pro to stay put. He recently wrote in TV Guide that he was unhappy about some of the new twists on the show this season — in particular the dance duel, which forced the contestants to have to rehearse to the point where they did not get a night off all season.
Considering that there are still plenty of candidates to assess, though — including some from this season — don’t expect a formal announcement for the “All-Stars” cast until later in the summer.
Do you think Mel should come back to the ballroom?
