Next to being the first celebrity out, the final four elimination is probably the worst one of the entire season on “Dancing with the Stars.” Why? It’s hard for anyone to go out right before the finale.
Unfortunately, there was one celebrity during this show Tuesday night that did not end up making it to the final week of performances. Why was it? Going in, it was certainly not a sure thing — while Katherine Jenkins was in danger in the minds of many TV critics, there was also a possibility that her back injury (and emotion after stumbling at the end of her dance) may have garnered some sympathy with viewers. As it turned out, it did — Katherine is heading in the finals! It just so turned out that this season, the voters looked at scores over the course of the season rather than just one night.
As for the two people who were “in jeopardy” (but not necessarily the bottom two) at the end, they were Maria Menounos and Donald Driver — and with this, William Levy was once again safe and firmly established as the one to beat in the competition at this point. Maria and Donald really don’t have anything to be upset about at this point — they were both incredible performers all season, and either one of them could have won had this been a season with a few dancers who weren’t as talented as this group.
Ultimately, though, the viewers decided that this was shockingly Maria and Derek’s week to go. We had a feeling that Donald’s NFL fans would carry him through, and they did. It’s still tough to see the “Extra” host go, though, mostly because she and Derek put so much passion into everything that they did over the course of the entire season.
What did you think about Tuesday night’s elimination?
