Are we going to see more of the music of Britney Spears on “Glee” next season? Based on what we are hearing at the moment, it certainly seems like it.
According to a new story from Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Ryan Murphy is getting ready to potentially launch a sequel to his season 2 Britney tribute for the fall, primarily as a way to try and bring over some of the crossover audience from “The X Factor” earlier in the night. (If you remember, “Glee” is going to be airing on Thursdays this fall following the talent competition — which now has Britney as a judge.)
As for some other news related to the show, we also know now that Kate Hudson’s six-episode arc is going to be as some sort of mentor for Lea Michele’s Rachel in New York City. Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker will be filling the same sort of role for Kurt (though for now, we are only hearing that she will appear in one episode). In other words, it seems as though Murphy is completely abandoning his season 3 promise to focus on the story, and not so much the flashy guest stars and tribute episodes. Will some big names have been successful on the show in the past, they have also been hit-or-miss — and the same could be said for tributes, since the first Britney-themed episode barely had any plot at all. (However, it was a ratings monster for Fox.)
Do you think that another Britney tribute really is a good idea at this point?
