‘American Idol’ notes: Phillip Phillips, Carrie Underwood, and Adam Lambert

One profitable guy.

For this Monday evening edition of “American Idol” notes, we are going to be kicking things off with a conversation largely about money — meanwhile, we will close with a conversation courtesy of Adam Lambert on VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz.”

Phillip brings profits – Just how big of a boost is an “Idol” hometown visit these days? Let’s just say that in 24 hours, Phillip Phillips spending time in his hometown of Leesburg, Georgia provided over half a million dollars in business.

According to some local reports, Phillip’s presence in the area brought in approximately $550,000 in the Lee County and Albany area, at least according to the Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau. If this doesn’t put a whole new perspective on power-voting, we don’t know what will. (If we were a restaurant owner in Leesburg, we’d spend hours every week voting.)

This visit will of course be featured on Wednesday night’s new episode of “Idol,” along with the hometown visits of Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet.

Carrie to hit up the CMT Music Awards – While the following announcement is hardly a surprise, it’s still rather nice to hear that Carrie Underwood has another awards show performance coming up in the near future.

CMT announced on Monday that the season 4 winner will be performing on the show when it airs Wednesday, June 6. Carrie will be joined by the likes of Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, and Brad Paisley as performers for the big show.

Carrie’s new release “Blown Away” recently debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

Adam on “Big Morning Buzz” – Finally, we’ll close with the newest stop on Adam’s promotional tour for “Trespassing” (which hits stores on May 15) — VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz.”

While the following clip is unfortunately only accessible to readers in America (and we still are hoping that the network will someday make these sort of clips available to international audiences), it does at least give you a sense as to how Adam is being a bit more vocal when it comes to his personal beliefs during this promotional tour even more so than he was during his series of interviews for “For Your Entertainment.”

As always, check back soon for more “Idol” news!
