Before the launch of “America’s Got Talent” Monday night, Howard Stern and Ryan Seacrest sat down for a simulcast interview that is actually rather fascinating from a number of standpoints. In it, you learn more about Ryan’s personal life than you typically do in dozens of other interviews — in addition to that, Howard also talks a bit more openly about why he wanted to do the show in the first place.
While of this content makes for an entertaining and fascinating chat, arguably the most fascinating portion of the interview ultimately is when Howard opens up about how many network executives automatically believe that he does not know how to handle himself on live television. For example, he claims that he was given a lengthy lecture by the executive producer for “The View,” even though he does know that he cannot go out on stage and drop the “f word” at just about every turn. (This led to Ryan ultimately revealing that he actually has cursed on accident during his radio show before.)
The more we hear of Howard when it comes to promoting this show, though, the more excited we ultimately become. While Piers Morgan is someone who is going to be incredibly hard to replace, Howard brings such a passion and energy — not to mention a general love the show — that it will be a new perspective for a genre that has in many ways become stale over the years. He is committed fully to this season, and has an option for next year at least when it comes to negotiations (though he is not necessarily locked down).
