For the Sunday edition of “American Idol” notes, we are mostly talking about some past contestants appearing on other shows — and in the case of season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, she is a permanent fixture on a show premiering this summer.
A new “Duets” promo – Kelly is one of the stars working with aspiring singers on ABC’s “Duets,” and the show has released a brand-new clip showing off some of the content we can expect from the show itself.
The basic premise here is that Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Robin Thicke, and John Legend (who is replacing the previously-cast Lionel Richie) are going to be traveling around the country looking for two singers to join them in a duet-singing competition. The superstars are going to be competing against each other in some capacity — though we hope that the contestants are actually shown off more so than on “The Voice.”
The two-hour “Duets” premiere is set to air on Thursday, June 24.
Carrie Underwood sits down with Oprah – While we don’t have too much information to share here just yet, Mjsbigblog is reporting that the season 4 champ is going to be stopping by “Oprah’s Next Chapter” for an interview along with husband Mike Fisher.
The interview was actually taped earlier this year, but it will air on OWN next Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
Kris Allen to appear on “Extra” – Like Adam Lambert and Haley Reinhart, Kris is preparing for the launch of his new album “Thank You Camellia” by doing a number of TV interviews and radio spots. One of the places in which he will appear in “Extra,” and he was recently spotted filming a segment for the show along with hosting an intimate listening party for fans.
“Camellia” drops on May 22 — the same day as Reinhart’s “Listen Up” and a week after Adam Lambert’s “Trespassing” hits stores.
