It looks like we were right on the money with our ratings debate piece. While ratings for “Scandal” have not necessarily been through the roof, the high quality for Shonda Rhimes’ new drama has helped the show secure a second season on ABC.
The network confirmed the news on Friday, even though we are at this very moment still awaiting word on whether or not another Rhimes series “Private Practice” has been renewed or canceled (though odds seem to be pointing towards the former).
Rhimes herself actually confirmed the news in a post on Twitter:
“Am super proud to say that Scandal has been picked for a 2nd season!!! Am doing a little dance of joy.”
Stay tuned for more renewals and cancellations on this hectic day of TV. (Update: Word is just now coming in that “GCB” will be canceled, despite posting ratings that were not much lower than the “Scandal” numbers.)
Update 2: Now, you can officially add “Pan Am” (sadly, as we were fans of the show), “Missing,” and “The River” to the list of canceled shows.
