If you have been upset about seeing Carrie Bradshaw’s entire backstory get toyed with courtesy of “The Carrie Diaries,” it’s possible that you are not going to be happy with the following news — The CW has picked up the AnnaSophia Robb pilot to series.
It was widely expected that the show — based on the Candace Bushnell novel that details her own interpretation on the “Sex and the City” character’s history — would get a pickup, primary due to its lead character and the sort of buzz (whether positive or negative) that few shows manage to get for the network.
In addition to the “Carrie” news, The CW has also made the decision to order four new series — “Cult” (featuring Matt Davis, whose character of Alaric was killed off on “The Vampire Diaries” season finale), “Beauty and the Beast” (based on the 1980s series), the ambitious new Green Arrow series entitled “Arrow,” and a new medical drama in “First Cut.”
With five new series picked up, the future is looking more grim than ever than such on-the-bubble shows as “Nikita” and “Ringer” — even though “Hart of Dixie” and “The Secret Circle” still could see the light of day.
