Adam Lambert talks ‘American Idol’ past, ‘Trespassing’ on ‘Chelsea Lately’

Adam made a special appearance.

For all Adam Lambert fans who managed to stay up late Thursday night, the singer (just one week before his return to “American Idol” in order to perform new single “Never Close Our Eyes”) stopped by “Chelsea Lately” for a visit.

However, what may come as a surprise to many was that there was no performance during the show — which is standard for many other late-night programs. Adam did still talk about a number of other topics — from his relationship to Sauli Koskinen (who he wrote some songs about for his new album “Trespassing”) to working with Pharrell to how he would have talked about his sexuality more on “American Idol” had someone on the show actually happened to address it. (This led to Chelsea Handler making the predicable joke about Ryan Seacrest’s sexuality.)

When it comes to his summer plans, Adam talked a bit about some of his upcoming shows with Queen in Europe this summer — and how he is especially excited to have an opportunity to perform at the same event with Elton John, who he surprisingly only met for the first time earlier this year at his annual Oscar viewing party.

If there is a video made available for the interview, we will have it here at the page — for now, the best way we can sum up Adam’s “Chelsea” interview is that it was somewhat informative, but focused mostly on humor and was not really long enough to get into any one subject for too long.

“Trespassing” hits stores on Tuesday, May 15.
