For the Thursday afternoon edition of “American Idol,” we have some news when it comes to TV appearances and campaigns for some current contestants — but we begin with the state of Phillip Phillips’ current health in this competition.
Surgery – Speaking to E! News following the live performance show on Wednesday night, Phillip revealed that he would be going under at some point before the start of the tour this summer in order to correct some of the kidney stone issues that have been plaguing him throughout the season:
“It’s probably going to go down … It’s a pretty good-size surgery, a lot of time down, but you gotta do what you gotta do. So we’ll see. I should be [back in time for the tour].”
It’s presumed that he will be able to make a full recovery and perform at all of the dates with the rest of the top 4 — but more than anything else, we really just hope that the Georgia native can be in a little less pain moving forward once the operation is complete.
Carrie hits up “Kimmel” – Carrie Underwood fans, take note — the season 4 winner is going to be stopping by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for a visit on Thursday night. (We’ll have a video of the performance as soon as it is available.)
In other “Idol”-stars-on-TV news, Adam Lambert is also set to make an appearance this Thursday on “Chelsea Lately” — and we will also have more on that once it airs.
Hollie defends her song choice – Finally, we’ll turn to Hollie Cavanagh, who is still defending herself against criticism that she botched her song choice with “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by not connecting to the lyrics.
Speaking to Zap2It in an interview, Hollie fought back by saying that she was able to connect to the song far more the judges claimed:
“I felt it — I felt the lyrics in it. They can tell me I didn’t feel it, but if I felt it and I feel like I felt it, then I felt it. You know?”
As for whether or not she is going to be able to avoid the bottom three, we are going to figure that much out soon.
As always, stay tuned for more “Idol” news!
