The moment the news came out that Chris Harrison and his wife Gwen were divorcing after nearly two decades of marriage, there was one question that started to enter the (cynical) minds of some fans — could Chris go from the host to “The Bachelor” next season?
Harrison was in a conference call this week to promote his upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” starring Emily Maynard, and he actually tried to keep a pretty positive attitude when a reporter asked him about the idea of him handing out roses:
“Getting out of a 22-year relationship, having just announced my divorce to the world a week ago, having two kids and trying to start a new life, I’m thinking I wouldn’t exactly be a great candidate to be the bachelor right now or anytime soon.”
Harrison did joke that his job is going to make it difficult for him to date in the future — mostly because women are going to expect him to show up with helicopters, private concerts, and some of the other lavish amenities that are handed out left and right on the hit ABC reality show. While he is not looking to date anytime soon, Harrison did say that he is still hoping that he will find love gain at soe point in his life.
Emily’s season is actually still filming, even though it will begin airing Monday night on ABC after “Dancing with the Stars.” Can you see any universe for Chris where being the star of such a dating show is a good idea?
