On last week’s episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” we witnessed what can best be described as a shocking moment for fans thinking that Joseph Morgan was going to be a key part of this show for seasons to come — his character of Klaus being seemingly killed off as his body was dumped.
So have we really seen the last of the character? When the episode first aired, we were confident in feeling that this was not the end for him. However, it now looks like we could be without Morgan’s talent for at least the short and possibly long-term future courtesy of what Michael Trevino is saying.
In a new interview with TVLine, the actor (whose Taylor Lockwood was under a rather nasty sire bond from Klaus for a good part of this season) suggested the Klaus could make an appearance again someday — but it won’t be in the finale, and maybe not in the early portions of season 4:
“Joseph Morgan is a great actor. I don’t see how we could get rid of him that easy. Sooner or later, we would probably see Klaus again … I don’t think [he’ll return] any time soon.”
As far-fetched as Klaus returning from his current state may be, the show is doing something with him at least remotely similar to Russell Edgington on “True Blood” — you get rid of the villain for the time being in order to introduce the new one, but over time that villain can somehow manage to return stronger and more evil than ever. (The only real difference here was that Russell was still alive — at least by undead standards — when he was buried.)
Are you as heartbroken as we are when it comes to no more Klaus for the time being?
