NBC renews ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ picks up show with ‘Vampire Diaries’ alum

Want more "SVU" in your life?

When NBC has their upfront presentation next week, it’s pretty fair to say that they are not going to have as much to announce as some of the other networks out there. After all, they have just revealed that “Law & Order: SVU” is indeed going to be returning for season 14.

Mariska Hargitay will remain on the long-running drama for at least one more season, even if there is already some speculation as to whether or not the last leg of the franchise will be over by the time May 2013 rolls around.

The good news for “L&O” titan Dick Wolf is that he is going to have another series coming up in the near future in “Chicago Fire,” which has already been picked up for at least 13 episodes for this upcoming season. The title is fairly self-explanatory when it comes to the firefighter-related content of the story, but the cast includes the likes of Jesse Spencer (“House”), Taylor Kinney (“The Vampire Diaries”), and David Eigenberg (who we will always remember as Mr. Miranda Hobbes).

Which bit of news here excites you more?
