Going into Tuesday night’s elimination episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” there was one general feeling among most of the show’s fans — Roshon Fegan and Melissa Gilbert were in big trouble. In the case of Roshon, we had someone who has three appearances in the bottom two already this season. Meanwhile, Melissa has been consistently near the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard.
So did they go home? When we first heard that Katherine Jenkins was one of the contestants in jeopardy, we were legitimately concerned. She has consistently been one of the best all season long, but we have constantly been worried about a Sabrina Bryan-esque exit happening considering her small fanbase in America. However, she (at least for the time being) received a reprieve, as Roshon Fegan was the first person sent home from the competition on the show. We feel for Roshon — he was never the worst dancer, but he simply could not assemble a voting block the same way that Kyle Massey did as a Disney Channel star a few seasons back.
As for who the second star was that ultimately ended up saying goodbye on the show, the curtain dropped for Melissa — who, despite her audience support, could not make up for the difference in voting between herself and Katherine. She’s had a pretty run on the show, and she has to be proud about that — by the same token, we do feel pretty bad for Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who still has not won a single season on the show while Mark Ballas and Derek Hough have multiple Mirrorballs. With this, Katherine lives to see another day.
What did you think about the double-elimination this week, and do you think that we have a far more interesting competition moving forward?
