We have heard some rumors that Miley Cyrus could end up taking a seat as a judge on “The X Factor” this season; now, the speculation is that she will be one of the two people replacing Steve Jones as a host.
This news (first reported by HollywoodLife.com) is far from confirmed, but it could be a smart move by Simon Cowell if he manages to pull it off. Cyrus certainly has experience in front of an audience courtesy of “Hannah Montana” and a gig on “Saturday Night Live,” and she could sympathize what what the contestants are going through as a musician and singer herself. From the standpoing of ratings, it’s also smart — if Simon’s goal is to have young people tune in, what better what than putting on the small screen one of the biggest child stars of the past decade?
On the flip side, we’re still slightly skeptical about this happening — Miley would not come cheap, and Cowell is set to already spend $15 million signing Britney Spears on to be a judge. There are also rumors that Demi Lovato could be the final remaining judge on tha panel, and we are not sure if Simon wants a third of his on-air talent to be recent alumni of the Disney Channel. (Miley would have a male co-host, but there hasn’t been as much buzz as to who that could be as of late.)
It’s possible that we could find out a firm decision on the show’s future at the Fox upfront presentation later this month; considering that the show will start up production soon, we better hope they are ready for some people to sign on the dotted line. Cowell is currently wrapping “Britain’s Got Talent” overseas, but should be back in America as soon as his work is completed.
What do you think about the idea of Miley as a co-host?
