How much tragedy can one person or couple endure? I’m having trauma fatigue! That said, if Derek goes away one way or another, I believe that something unlikely and unexpected will occur: Meredith will wind up with Karev. If Derek is/was her fantasy (McDreamy), Karev is her reality, her mirror self–dark and twisty but fighting back from an abusive childhood to high achievement. He’s her person! The reality wont be as dreamy as the fantasy, but in the end it will be just as rewarding.
