There’s some good news for those of us pining to find out whether or not “Community” is returning for another season — it’s looking good. However, there may still be some bad news to go along with it.
According to Deadline, NBC is posed to renew “30 Rock” for a seventh and final season that will be for only 13-14 episodes. As for “Community,” they are potentially poised to do the same exact thing with both the Greendale Human Beings and the town of Pawnee with “Parks and Recreation.”
While it’s great to see all three of the shows back, the though of only 13-episode seasons of “Community” and “Parks” (if true) is still shocking for a couple of reasons:
-With “Community,” wouldn’t studio Sony want to get the show to 88 episodes so that it would make it into syndication?
-Meanwhile, “Parks” is actually NBC’s second-strongest comedy behind “The Office,” and we would think they would be milking it for all it is worth.
While NBC does have a number of new comedies coming up this season, they are all at the moment still unknowns — though the strategy here may very well be to wait and see how some of these shows do, and then extend the seasons of “Community” and “Parks” accordingly. (Let’s hope Dan Harmon and Greg Daniels are okay with making creative decisions on the fly.)
What’d your reaction to this (still unconfirmed) news?
