We are not sure that there is an event on TV more awkward as a whole than the opening episode of a “Bachelor” or “Bachelorette” season. You have one person trying to get to know an army of people in a single night, and then they have to magically choose from all of these people who is right for them, and who should be sent home before their journey really even starts.
With that in mind, we end up seeing the sort of ridiculous practices we have grown accustomed to on this show over the years — including the random gifts being bestowed on our lead that we are never quite sure if they actually keep. For Emily Maynard this season, she is actually going to receive a set of bobbleheads from a guy named Chris — one of her, and also one of him. (You can check out a sneak peek from the May 14 below courtesy of Us Weekly.)
On a different sort of note, things are going to get rather series quickly courtesy of Arie Luyendyk, who (as we wrote about previously) is going to be an interesting person to watch this season. He has a lengthy history in racing, and he is going to have to confront Emily about that early on to see if she is even interested in dating someone with the same sort of profession as her late fiance Ricky Hendricks.
Out of these two men, who do you think is the better match for Emily on the surface?
