Eight weeks in to “Dancing with the Stars” this season, and Melissa Gilbert is still standing. The “Little House on the Prairie” star has been an underdog ever since the beginning of the season, but she has managed to avoid the bottom two every week thanks to not only an endearing personality, but one of the most-popular professional partners on the show in Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
So is Melissa still surprised to see herself doing so well? It sounds like it, The actress spoke to former contestant Melissa Rycroft on “Good Morning America” Monday morning, and said that one of her biggest strategies for the season was trying not to expect too much out of the public vote — even though it has kept her safe already from the dance duels the past few weeks:
“I am kind of shocked, actually … I tried not to have too many expectations going in to where we would be, so each week has been a surprise, but then having people vote us through when we’ve gotten lower scores has been really validating and amazing, surprising.”
There is not only going to be a double-elimination on Tuesday night’s results show, but we are also going to see another challenge Monday as the contestants are going to be performing with pros who were already eliminated from the show. (In Melissa’s case, she is going to be performing alongside Maksim’s brother Val Chmerkovskiy — who was shockingly eliminated earlier this season along with Sherri Shepherd.)
At the moment, Melissa and Roshon Fegan seem to be the two people in the most jeopardy. Who do you think could end up going home?
