Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Dictator’ arrives on ‘The Today Show’ (video)

Lauer handled it pretty well.

If you love to watch morning news anchors being tormented by an off-the-wall character, then anything that Sacha Baron Cohen does is probably right up your alley.

On Monday morning, the actor appeared on “The Today Show” as his newest creation — Admiral General Aladeen from the new movie “The Dictator.” Of course, this led to Matt Lauer having to sqiurm for a good five minutes as Cohen suggested that the host was having an affair with Ann Curry, and that he should “execute” Ryan Seacrest over him trying to take over the morning show anchor job. (In reality, Seacrest — who has plenty of history with Cohen’s character courtesy of the Oscars — ended up joining NBC News to help cover the Olympics in London.)

Cohen has made a career out of doing these sort of¬†uncomfortable¬†interviews, but to his credit thus far they seem to be working. “The Dictator” is launching in theaters on May 16, and expectations are high for it to be the comedy hit of the summer.

How do you think Lauer handled this interview, and are you getting a little tired already of Cohen’s shtick?
