‘American Odyssey’ episode 2 preview: What lies ahead?

American -Tonight, NBC launched a new series in “American Odyssey” that is definitely ambitious. It is a chance to tell a story that is deep, complicated, and is an attempt by the network to get the same sort of intense-TV audience that they had with “The Blacklist.” We do still wish that they had kept the original title of the series, mostly because that added a little more mystery to it. The fact that the series features a main character in active military duty is proof of its patriotism.

Unfortunately for Odelle Ballard, she is far from in a good place as she traverses the desert without much of her team, and with fears of conspiracy at every turn. Did we mention that this series is complicated? It is going to become even more so in the second episode, which is going to feature more questions about what is really happening, and struggles for Ballard (who we really wish was related to “Scandal” character Jake Ballard) as she tries to make her way back.

Take a look at the synopsis for this second episode below:

“Sgt. Odelle Ballard (Anna Friel), aware of the target on her back, desperately tries to avoid detection as she and her young Malian companion Aslam (Omar Ghazaoui) hide among the Tuareg on their pilgrimage through the desert. In New York, Harrison Walters fears for his own reputation when hacker Bob (Nate Mooney) becomes reluctant to share his evidence that Odelle Ballard is alive. Racked with guilt over the murder of drone pilot Danny Gentry, Peter (Peter Facinelli) takes his suspicions about Societel to the Department of Justice and faces threats after attempting to gather information against the company from within.”
