‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ review: Did Clay Aiken, Aubrey O’Day make finale?

How did Clay do?

There was quite a bit that happened on “The Celebrity Apprentice” Sunday night — not only was there a task involving designing a hairdryer advertorial, but there was also another elimination courtesy of last year’s winner John Rich coming in with Marlee Matlin to determine who was right to be declared a finalist.

First, the challenge!

Teresa Giudice and Lisa Lampanelli were in charge of this task, and really everything seemed to come down to one thing — the presentation. We have already seen time and time again this season that Teresa has not been the best when it comes to speaking in front of a crowd, and this is what sunk her more than some bad negotiations with Lisa over the models.

Just how bad was Teresa’s presentation? Let’s just say that they managed to lose even though their ads from this perspective were far and away better than the other team’s. Meanwhile, Lisa and Clay Aiken put together a strong presentation, even if the fashion in it looked like it was courtesy of the 1980s.

It didn’t really come as any bit of a surprise that not only did Teresa lose, but she was fired over both Arsenio Hall and Aubrey O’Day. (Heck, Arsenio was the only one remotely in jeopardy.)

Now, the debate

Here is how the remaining four contestants handled the debate session with John and Marlee.

Clay – The former “American Idol” star had to defend himself for being a supposed “follower” rather than a leader, and also for not stepping up more than twice as Project Manager.

Aubrey – The singer was called out for not doing more when it comes to her fundraiser, and for also not using whatever Rolodex she did have.

Lisa – The only thing Lisa was really criticized for was for being emotional and crying in the boardroom — which was something that Marlee questioned as to whether or not it was appropriate.

Arsenio – By the same token, Arsenio’s temper was questioned — while he is passionate, you have to be able to channel that passion in the right way.

Ever since the start of this show, a part of us has leaned towards a possible final two of Clay and Lisa — so was that the case? No! We were absolutely stunned for Lisa getting fired, mostly because she has been one of the strongest and most creative people on the entire season.

However, we were really frustrated by the cliffhanger. Why make us wait and see who is in the finale until next week? There really doesn’t seem to be any point to it.

What did you think about this episode, and the fact that Donald Trump and company are making us wait to learn the final two?
