I agree, comic Oliver’s already leaking through here and there, his sarcasm in the flashbacks, his lightheartedness (“I’m multitasking”) at the start of this season, when he was talking to Barry at the end of the crossover, etc. People just need to be patient, I think it’s really clever how they mimic the historical progression of his character.

And it infuriates me accordingly when they say Amell is “wooden” or shows no emotion. That’s present day PTSD Oliver quite deliberately, and his talent shows when that facade breaks down and his real emotions get through.

Pretty much the whole cast is perfect in that they bring out the best of each other, and (brilliantly) feel like different, rounded people depending on who they’re interacting with.

And his depiction of Oliver is REALLY undersung. You hit the nail on the head, he’s playing several different versions at once, and he does each of them amazingly imo.

In reply to jo. Emily? Really? I don't know if an actress incapable of producing tears can really support any other actor. If anything she tends to bring what should be emotional scenes down with her lack of talent.

He has alot of help with really great actors in support on arrow. David is wonderful and paul is so seasoned and without emily whence large part o f arrow fanbase…he is good actor yes but big cast and looks truly help.
