For this Sunday edition of the “American Idol” notes, we are going to staying at first very much attached to everything going on this season. However, check the tail end of the article to hear a brand-new remix of Kris Allen’s “The Vision of Love.”
More on the top 4 theme – We already heard that the top 4 are going to be singing songs from California artists Wednesday night, and now we can officially add something else to that — there will also be performances themed around “songs they wish they had written.” While we’re still not sure what this means (maybe it’s just “songs they have an emotional connection to”), but executive producer Nigel Lythgoe shared the news this weekend on Twitter.
Hopefully this will give Jessica Sanchez another chance to young with her song choice, as well as move on from a rather silly controversy on the social-networking site over Adam Lambert telling her that she and Joshua Ledet were the best singers. Fans of Hollie Cavanagh and Phillip Phillips took both Adam’s remark and Jessica’s response to it as some sort of slam against their two favorite contestants — however, it was pretty obviously just a compliment and not meant to be negative towards Hollie or Phillip at all. Apparently, free speech leads to hate speech.
Skylar Laine performs on “Leno” – Skylar Laine was on Friday night’s edition of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and in the process she took advantage of the opportunity to perform a little bit with Rickey Minor and the band.
You can hear Skylar talk briefly about her time on the show below, and there are also a few clips here and there of her performances during Leno’s interview with Randy Jackson. Enjoy!
Kris Allen’s new remix – Finally, we’re going to close with the Michael Woods remix of Kris Allen’s new single “The Vision of Love.” We actually love some of the remixes so much that they are on par with the actual single — mostly because it’s an exciting new sound for a guy whose voice really works with just about anything.
You can buy his full remix EP on his official website Tuesday, May 8.
As always, check back for more “Idol” news!
