‘American Idol’ notes: Skylar Laine, Haley Reinhart, and Katharine McPhee

Skylar's speaking out.

For the Saturday edition of the “American Idol” notes, we are going to be taking you through quite a bit — including some words from Skylar Laine after her elimination along with videos of some other famous former stars.

Skylar’s final words – Skylar took part in a conference call with reporters on Friday, and ultimately she didn’t have any regrets about some of the decisions that she made while on the show.

More than anything else, Skylar was simply excited to dive into the world of recording, and she seemed to be especially grateful for the support given to her by another “Idol” country star in Carrie Underwood:

“I think that she was so sweet about it. She actually said in one of her interviews, I think that country community is already welcoming me with open arms and that just means the world to me. All of her comments were sweet. I was so happy to hear them.”

Skylar will of course be back for the final and the tour, so we certainly haven’t seen the end of her yet.

A look at Haley’s video – If you love Haley Reinhart’s new music video for “Free,” you are probably going to more than appreciate the behind-the-scenes look at the song.

In the video below, the season 10 favorite says that she was really just excited to give the video a distinct 1950s vibe, and it is something that she has been thinking about for much of her life.

Katharine McPhee on “Leno” – With the finale for “Smash” season 1 quickly approaching, Katharine stopped by “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Friday night for a brief interview. As for the subject matter, let’s hope you like animals wearing raincoats.

When it comes to “Idol,” McPhee claimed that she has watched some of it — at the same time, though, she also watches “The Voice” with some regularity since it serves as a lead-in to her show and she also knows contestant Chris Mann from a function that they performed at together a year ago.

As always, stay tuned for more “Idol” news!
