We hear so often that “American Idol” is first and foremost a singing competition … so why is everyone creating so much drama when it comes to the personal lives of a few contestants? We’ve already seen Skylar Laine and Colton Dixon have to deny these sort of rumors left and right, and now Phillip Phillips is being forced to deal with suggestions that Ryan Seacrest revealing his relationship status is going to hurt him in the competition.
Phillip responds – So is Phillip upset at Ryan for revealing this bit of news — especially when it does impact his voting block? It doesn’t seem like it.
Speaking in a new interview with E! News, Phillip said that ultimately he’s not interested in having people voting for him, anyway, if they are doing so due to some sort of pretense about his relationship status:
“At first I thought Ryan was talking about his girlfriend. Then I realized, Oh, he’s talking about my girlfriend. So it was funny. It doesn’t matter. If it does then [the voters] weren’t really liking the music. I’m trying to get the music out there. I’m not trying to be some boy that tries to look good or anything. I want the music to speak first. [My girlfriend] is really proud of me being out there and pursuing my dreams. She supports me all the way.”
Of course, there is another argument as to why Phillip could be in trouble this week — his performances were not as well-received online as some of the others, and the judges do not seem to be giving him the same sort of love anymore as some of the other contestants.
Adam’s video shoot – On the Adam Lambert front, there is some big news as he recently shot the music video for “Never Close Our Eyes.”
“That shoot was a long one!! This video is going to be AMAZING! Get ready!!!!”
Adam will be back on “Idol” May 17 for a performance of the song, and you will likely be able to check out the music video in the weeks that follow.
Jessica tries to be British – We’ll close this edition of the “notes” with something rather simple but also fun — getting to hear Jessica Sanchez’s attempts at a British accent.
In the video below via Fox All Access, you can hear some rather hilarious attempts by Jessica, Joshua Ledet, and Skylar Laine all attempt to do the voice in celebration of the British theme that constituted half of Wednesday night’s performance show.
So who does the best job? Of course, it’s Hollie Cavanagh — but she has a bit of an advantage.
