Sorry, Justin Bieber fans — it looks like Alec Baldwin was off-base earlier this year when he suggested on his podcast that the teen singer would be returning to “Saturday Night Live” this season.
However, longtime fans of rock n’ roll are going to find the following bit of news even more exciting. For the season finale of “SNL” on May 19, Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones will be making his first-ever appearance as host, and his third as a musical guest. Jagger is the first star to pull double-duty on the show since Elton John in April 2011.
With a name of his caliber on the billing, we have to believe that there could be even more star power on the stage. This could potentially be the last episode for such “SNL” vets as Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, and Andy Samberg, and if the rumors regarding their exit are true they will surely want their swan song to be a great success rather than a dud.
Eli Manning of the New York Giants is set to host the show for the first this weekend with musical guest (and “SNL” veteran) Rihanna. Following that, Will Ferrell will return to the show on May 12 with Usher also returning as a musical guest.
Do you think that Jagger is a good choice for the season finale?
