‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez, Elise Testone, and Carrie Underwood

What is Jessica up to?

For the Tuesday edition of the “American Idol” notes, we have some headlines that include a prestigious request — plus some memorable performances.

Jessica in demand – We already know that Jessica’s Filipino heritage has drawn her a rather massive fanbase in the small Pacific country, but she is also drawing some support from the country’s biggest celebrities.

In a new interview with ABS-CBN News, boxer Manny Pacquiao said that he wants the singer (who is also half Mexican-American) to sing the Philippine National Anthem at one of his future fights:

“Jessica, good luck and we’re praying for you. Sana manalo ka. No, hindi sana. I declare that you’re gonna win in Jesus’ name.”

There are a number of past “Idol” contestants who have become stars in the Philippines, with the most notable example being David Archuleta — who has even starred in a local show.

Elise hits up “Live! with Kelly” – If you want yet another reminder of just what the competition is missing now that Elise Testone is gone, she performed Monday morning on “Live! with Kelly.”

Singing the Adele hit “One and Only” that she tackled during the top 25 week, Elise once again served as a prime example of someone who actually did a better job performing on this daytime talk show than she did when she took it on the first time. (Granted, there’s a lot less at stake here.)

Carrie on “The Late Show” – Speaking of people absolutely slaying their performances, Carrie Underwood hit up “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Monday night in order to perform her new single “Good Girl.”

If you want a sneak preview of just what we are going to be seeing when the season 4 champhits the “Idol” stage on Thursday night, check you the video — you will probably be rather happy you did.

As always, check back for more “Idol” news!
