The reason this season only got 10 episodes was because Rachel Bilson was pregnant. It was going to be a shortened season anyway because of the way the ratings fell so much last year and the other show renewals and new shows on the CW schedule, there wasn’t room on the schedule for a full season of HOD. The reason they only got 10, instead of 12 or 13 like shows often get in a shortened season, is because they couldn’t fit it in with her real life pregnancy. Rachel had her daughter a few weeks after filming ended and my guess is they didn’t want to be in a situation where they were half way through an episode or had an episode or 2 left to shoot and have her go into labor so they decided to play it safe and finish up a few weeks before her due date.

I agree, this season has been great. I was really holding out hope that we might get another shortened season but if LG tweeted that it was the last 3 episodes, I think that’s a pretty clear indication that another season isn’t happening. She’s the EP, if there was any chance of another season, she of all people would be aware of it. This isn’t like some of the actors “saying goodbye” when they finished filming last fall, this is the EP which is more telling to me. So, so sad to see this show end, I love it!
