For our Monday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, we have a little bit of everything — but are going to start with a video featuring Kris Allen being taken down by the Man.
Kris’ concert ends abruptly – When Kris decided to perform a bit of an impromptu concert this weekend on the Santa Monica pier, he was probably hoping for some sort of organic musical experience with just his guitar.
However, little did he expect the police to get involved in his performance. What happened? Basically, it was a case of the crowd getting too big for the cops’ liking, and they shut him down over not having a proper permit to be performing out in the street. In a post after the fact on Twitter, Kris explained that (unsurprisingly) he really wasn’t meaning any harm both to the police or to other street performers with permits trying to make a living in the area:
“Well I wasn’t expecting anything from tonight but that’s not what I expected. Getting stopped by the cops never crossed my mind. Thanks to everyone that came out. Had a good time. And to the people that just stopped…thanks for stopping. Btw I didn’t mean any disrespect to other street performers out there. I respect them so much for what they do.”
In the videos below, you can check out the police incident along with Kris covering the popular Justin Timberlake song “What Goes Around Comes Around.”
Haley hits a chart milestone – For those of you (including us) who were worried that Haley Reinhart’s “Free” was not taking off fast enough on the radio charts, we now have some good news concerning a milestone.
For the first time on the Mediabase Hot AC chart, Haley’s debut single has entered the top 40 with a total of 312 spins. While it still has a ways to go before hitting that surefire “hit” status, Haley has now joined Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert as “Idol” alum who are currently on this chart. (As of this writing, “Free” is ranked #39.)
Stay tuned — we’ll have more chart milestones in the future.
Hollie is sick – Finally, be sure to send some well-wishes in the direction of Hollie Cavanagh. Despite feeling under the weather on Sunday, she still took off with the top five to shoot the latest Ford Music Video.
Hollie is definitely not the only singer to feel under the weather at various times this season — as a matter of fact, Phillip Phillips’ kidney stent has turned him into the poster child for season 11 health problems. (He has actually been forced to stay home from a video shoot on one occasion due to the pain.)
The good news for Hollie is that this doesn’t appear to be serious, and she should be ready to rock out this week to British music — something that she has more experience with than anyone else in the top five.
As always, stay tuned for more of the latest “Idol” news!
