It’s crazy to think, but we are three seasons into “The Good Wife” now as a series, but we have still yet to meet a character who is often referenced, but kept in the shadows — Kalinda’s husband. However, that is about to change very soon.
Following the rather eventful (though not necessarily earth-shattering) season finale Sunday night, the show finally put us in a position where meeting this character could indeed be possible. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly after the show, co-showrunner Robert King also confirmed that the character will turn up in a physical form during season 4. We don’t know who is going to play him yet, but the plan right now is to take the time to find someone who works together perfectly with Archie Panjabi.
So what is going to make this character so fascinating? It’s ultimately twofold — we are finally going to find out more about Kalinda’s past, but in doing so we could see more complications thrown into the mix when it comes to her present friendship with Alicia. As just about everyone associated with the show at this point knows, there are few friendships on TV as intricate and / or complicated as what we have seen from these two over the past three seasons.
As for some other early spoilers for season 4, expect to see the secret finally get out about the full extent of Alicia and Peter’s present relationship — and even though the press now has hold of the information, that is not going to keep a run for Governor by Chris Noth’s character from happening.
Looking back at the season as a whole, we have to say that in many ways it was a tale of two halves. The fall run may have been the weakest of the first three seasons when it comes to pacing and excitement; however, seeing Alicia look at both her family with Peter along while wrestling with her independence in this spring season has been divide — plus, nothing really beats a finale with both Martha Plimpton and Michael J. Fox joining forces.
For now, let’s play casting director. Who do you want to see play Kalinda’s husband?
