There are some roles that we never see coming — watching Darren Criss of “Glee” tackle the part of an incredibly-religious animated teenage boy just so happens to be one of them.
On Sunday night’s new episode of “The Cleveland Show” (airing at 7:30 p.m. on Fox), we are going to see Criss shine as Hunter, a “devout” boy who just so happens to have a bit of an angry side. Why? He and Junior are competing for the affections of Vanessa (voiced by Fergie), and will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Yes, based on the first preview video from the show, that includes a song-and-dance number that everyone pretty much expects from Criss at this point. However, what we didn’t expect was to hear religious jokes themed around Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
Criss’ character isn’t just going to use music to gain the advantage in this battle for love, though — he’s also going to do some snooping to find out just how religious Junior really is. The results are, how should we say, hysterical — mostly because Junior really didn’t even try that hard to cover up the truth.
As if this could not get any more over-the-top, the final song-and-dance number with Hunter and Junior that we have access to prior to the show teaches us a valuable lesson — sometimes doing wrong can be oh-so right. Also, “The Cleveland Show” may have one of its funniest episodes here in quite some time.
What do you think about this episode’s plot — is it too controversial for your liking, or really just ridiculously entertaining?
