For the Sunday edition of “The Real Housewives” notes, we are taking a look at two shows (and stars) in particular — and each one of them is looking at their future in rather fascinating wait.
Were viewers tardy for the “Wedding”? – First, let’s look at a topic that is already generating a great deal of conversation around the internet — the ratings for “Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding’s” one-hour premiere Thursday night.
Overall, you really have to just this show based on one thing — whether or not you compare it to the other “Housewives” franchise shows, or what else is currently airing on Bravo. The first half-hour drew close to 1.4 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, while the second brought in 1.67 million and a 0.7 rating. It’s rare to see a show actually increase its viewers in its second go-around, and what this may really mean is that it took a little while for viewers to find this show.
The “Wedding” ratings are low by “Real Housewives” standards, but they also are comparable to any other series on Bravo’s programming slate. With that in mind, it’s not likely that Kim Zolciak’s spin-off will stay around beyond this season, at least not unless her actual wedding somehow manages to up its audience by a large number. (This happened with Bethenny Frankel’s show, which now draws numbers lower than Kim’s in its third season.)
Heather Dubrow apologizes – In crossing over to the “Orange County” series, we have some new comments coming in via new cast member Heather Dubrow — specifically, she is sorry for some of the comments that she fired off in the direction of Alexis Bellino on this past episode.
Writing in her new Bravo blog, however, Heather was also keen on defending herself against allegations that she is deliberately mean and terrible to her co-star:
“I’d like to say I’m tired of Alexis saying I am picking on her. The nature of this show is to say what you are thinking and how you feel about the other ladies . It’s what is expected. Everyone on the show does this. When we first met, Aleixs didn’t know me at all and yet she trashed me. She called me pretentious , made fun of my career, and the fact that I have a brain. This is catty and not empowering of women at all. I am now reacting to all of that. Yes, I agree, calling her dumb was not very kind. Very childish on my part. Although she does hang herself out there for it, I am sorry for those kinds of remarks. “
Check back Sunday night, as we are going to have a full review of what goes down on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” What do you think about the “Party” ratings, and about Heather’s apology?
