Let’s hope you love watching multiple episodes of NBC’s “Community” in the same night — after all, the network looks ready to give us a triple-dose on the final Thursday of May sweeps.
According to The Futon Critic, the final three episodes of season 3 are going to air the night of Thursday, May 17 in the middle of the network’s two-hour comedy block. The only thing that will separate them? The season finale of “30 Rock” at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
While some people could interpret this as the network trying to burn off episodes, that’s really not what is going on here. The network was originally planning to air two episodes of “Awake” here beginning at 9:00, but they moved up the final two episodes of “Community” a week out of trust that it will end the sweeps on a higher note than there low-rated drama series. It’s ultimately a nice vote of confidence for a show that has not receive much in the way of that as of late, even though this is going to make May 17 a rather busy evening courtesy of some other finales across the TV landscape.
The fate of “Community” is still unknown, but we should expect to hear a final verdict of the future of our Greendale Human Beings by the time the finale airs. Six seasons and a movie? Let’s hold out hope.
