There are some big performances coming up on “The Voice,” and we all of the latest headlines at the moment coming in from around the TV world.
Group performances – In addition to getting the chance to perform as individuals yet again during Monday night’s performance show, the remaining eight artists will also do a group performance with another team. Ultimately, they are paired in the same way that they have been for shows all season — Team Adam Levine and Team Cee Lo Green will be performing “All These Things That I’ve Done” by The Killers (“I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier!”), while Team Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera will perform Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” (which is currently being covered on every reality show under the sun).
Ultimatley, the results show is going to work in the same way as it did last season — the coaches are going to score the contestants on their performances, and this (in a nod to “Dancing with the Stars”) will be combined with the viewer votes to see who ends up staying. While we like there idea of this in theory, there are two primary problems here:
1. The coaches often tend to be nice and keep the scores fairly even — which in some cases is really just chickening out.
2. Considering that Jamar Rogers and Juliet Simms are arguably better than most everyone else in the competition, shouldn’t they both allowed to be in the final four? We don’t like the idea that someone has to be deprived of the finals due to strong competition from their own team. (Right now, we think Jamar will ultimately bring it home over Juliet, though this could change.)
Past singers return – On the results show Tuesday night, we are going to see some familiar faces from season 1 come back with some-brand new performances of some variety.
-Vicci Martinez will be reuniting with her old coach Cee Lo Green for a performance of “Come Along.”
-Beverly McClellan (formerly of Team Christina) will be joining forces for the first time with Cyndi Lauper for a performance of the classic song “Money Changes Everything.”
-With the help of guest Kid Cudi, Dia Frampton (who actually ended up touring with Blake Shelton) is going to perform “Don’t Kick the Chair.”
-Finally, season 1 champ Javier Colon (who worked with Adam) will be back to perform his new single “A Drop in the Ocean.”
Adam talks his Jennifer Love Hewitt – Just to close things off here (especially for the sake of humor), we have an interview featuring Adam Levine on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” this week, where he is asked about whether or not he’d be interested in going out with a woman who has quite a crush on him in Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Adam’s response? He doesn’t seem to be into it, but this may be more due to his recent split from Anne V than anything that has to do with the star of “The Client List.”
Check back this weekend — we’ll have our “Voice” rankings up then for all eight contestants this season!
