With the May 14 premiere of “America’s Got Talent” just over two weeks away, we now have our official first look at what we can expect from the show — and from Howard Stern as a judge.
In the video, you can hear the legendary shock jock come down hard on some acts, praise others, and overall act like he is genuinely born to do this gig. Of course, the promo also has the benefit of heavy editing — even mediocre judges can look good when painted in the right light. (We think Howard will be fine, but we will have to wait until the live shows to be sure.)
For those of you wondering why we are seeing “AGT” premiere so much earlier this season (and also compete against the likes of “Dancing with the Stars,” “The Bachelorette,” “House,” and some season finales over on CBS), you really just have to blame the Olympics. With NBC needing to free up primetime later in the summer for one of the biggest events in all sports, they have to cram in their summer programming beforehand or risk all sorts of preempting that would anger fans.
For now, what’s your take — do you think based on this promo that Howard is going to be a good judge?
