It’s pretty rare to see any person actually working on “American Idol” actually give some sort of prediction as to who could end up going far in the competition, and with this in mind Randy Jackson’s comments are ultimately all the more surprising — even if he is probably right on the money.
Speaking on “The Talk” Monday, Randy made his prediction for the show’s top 4 — even though there were a few problems with math thrown in here:
“I think the Top 3 is probably Phil Phillips, Skylar Laine, Jessica [Sanchez] who we saved, and probably Joshua [Ledet] … Those are the Top 4.”
Do we think Randy is probably right here? Our rankings certainly seem to reflect that. Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone clearly have the smallest fanbases of anyone left, and both of the will likely have to rock out the next few weeks in order to push further than their present positions. They have both proven at times capable of getting a surge in support, and it could happen again.
However, we are going to stop short of saying that Randy’s lineup is inevitable here. We’ve already seen what happened to Jessica when her fans forgot to vote, and it certainly could happen again. As for Skylar and Joshua, they’ve also both landed in the bottom three before. (As for Phillip … you may as well invite Dave Matthews to the finale now.)
You can check out more of Randy’s comments in the video (which you can see over here), and we will be back with another dose of “Idol” notes in the morning.
What do you think about this prediction?
