‘American Idol’ notes: Haley Reinhart’s new single; Phillip Phillips’ health woes

Enter Wonderland.

For our Monday morning edition of “American Idol” notes, we are really going to just focus on two artists who are experiencing either great success or great pain — Haley Reinhart and Phillip Phillips.

Haley’s new single – As the photo to the left clearly proves, the people over at Interscope have already devised a new single for Haley to follow up “Free,” which really seems to be rather fast considering that we just heard the other song just a month ago.

The new single is “Wonderland,” which has a rather distinct sort of Motown vibe to it that suits Haley’s voice rather well. (You can hear the full song over at this link.) Is this track really going to fare any better on the radio charts than “Free” has so far? We hope so, mostly because we’ve been fans of “Free” for sometime and are rather sad to see it not making more of an impact at least in the Hot AC format.

For those curious, there is also a deluxe edition containing four bonus tracks, which (per Mjsbigblog) are as follows:

11. Follow Me (I’m Right Behind You)
12. Spiderweb
13. What You Don’t Know
14. Let’s Run Away

These songs join the ten tracks that have already been announced for the disc.

Phillip Phillips’ health woes – For Phillip, the great news with the competition is that he is the only person left to never experience the bottom three. The bad news? He’s in so much pain that is is hard to see him even perform.

On her official Facebook page, Phillip’s mom posted the following message to give everyone some insight as to how the recent stent put in his kidney is affecting him:

“I have a special prayer request. Please stop and pray a special prayer for Phillip. He is in a lot of pain and I am sad about it. I just wish he felt good. I love him so much and wish I could be with him. He would appreciate the prayers too!”

Heejun Han also suggested in his new version of his “talk show” that Phillip has underwent another procedure to remove kidney stones, but since he (rather hilariously) did not let Phillip speak at all we really don’t know much more than that.

Phillip’s likely not going to let his condition impact whether or not he still performs, but it does certainly mean that he is going through more than some of the other contestants.

As always, check back soon for more “Idol” news!
