‘Glee’ video preview: Amber Riley, Lea Michele’s next spotlight

Mercedes plays a major part.

Following up a look at the music from the upcoming Whitney Houston tribute on “Glee,” we now have a pair of videos to help give you a better sense as to the actual content of the episode.

Unfortunately this week, the only full performance that Fox has released as of this writing is of the stripped-down version of “How Will I Know” with Amber Riley (Mercedes), Lea Michele (Rachel), Chris Colfer (Kurt), and Naya Rivera (Santana) all taking on the lead vocals at various points of the song. As we said in the music preview, this is a standout moment for a show that often is not allowed to take many risks musically, and the content works well within the context of the story both in terms of Whitney’s passing along with how many members of New Directions are having to look at their future head-on.

In addition to this video, we have a preview clip from Fox that does give us a bit more insight into the making of this performance. Rivera confirms that “How Will I Know” is how the episode will begin, and Riley says that the entire filming process was haunting in the way it felt as though Houston was there in spirit.

Over the course of the episode, you can expect some faster-paced Whitney performances that are fun, and there will be plenty of story thrown in here to go along with the music. Kurt and Blaine are going to undergo some of their first actual turmoil since becoming a couple, especially in how they have to figure out what do with their future once they are apart. (For those of you who are ‘shipping Joe and Quinn, you may find some content in here that also makes you smile.)

Check back Tuesday night, as we are going to have a full review of the episode as a whole!
