On the last episode of ‘Basketball Wives’ the women went to the race track for a day of fun, but things turned ugly when Nia Crooks and Jennifer Williams got into a heated argument that turned into a physical fight.
Nia (Evelyn Lozada’s assistant) and Jennifer became very close friends after Jennifer divorced and even stayed with Nia in her home, but for some reason Nia felt that Jennifer had become distant and shut her out, so when the ladies met at the race track she decided that this was the time to confront her about her attitude change. As Nia asked Jennifer questions and Jennifer showed she wasn’t interested in having the conversation at that time, Nia asked Jennifer if she wanted to be slapped in the face to help bring her back to the person she was. Jennifer said she did want to be slapped in the face for some strange reason and Nia got up out of her seat, went around the table and slapped her in the face.
Reports from US Weekly say that Jennifer has decided to take legal action against Nia for slapping her and has filed a civil complaint against her for assault and battery saying that Nia was “negligent, reckless and careless.” The report goes on to say that Jennifer sustained “serious injuries” and “suffered pain, shock [and] mental anguish” after the altercation at the race track in January. The lawsuit has been filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court as well as a criminal complaint in Florida. Jennifer is seeking unspecified monetary and punitive damages from Crooks.
Jennifer feels that violence against women is wrong and that fighting back through litigation is a better alternative. She said; “Violence used against any woman is wrong, I chose to use the justice system to fight back. If I can have a positive effect for women by fighting back with civil litigation it serves an important purpose.”
A new episode of ‘Basketball Wives’ returns to VH1 on April 23, so be sure to tune in!
