The news is still breaking, but we are hearing that Dick Clark — who has become one of the landmark faced in the TV and music industries over the course of the past five decades — died on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack.
While the official cause of death has not been confirmed, spokespeople for Clark — best known as the man behind “American Bandstand,” the American Music Awards, and “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” — have confirmed that he has passed away. According to TMZ, he was undergoing an outpatient procedure at a Los Angeles hospital when he suffered the heart attack, and then attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful
We will have more about this story as it breaks, but from a personal standpoint we will remember Clark as a man who made music fun on television, and was passionate about entertaining upon to this very last year of helping to host his New Year’s Eve broadcast with Ryan Seacrest.
